Reporting to the Campus Director, the Program-Curriculum Administrator collaborates with the program staff and faculty, campus management, and the Education Department to develop (or revise) a program’s curriculum for Sprott Shaw College (SSC). This document is intended for part- or full-time employees of SSC; however, independent contract work (non-employee) will meet the same requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

The PCA is also a teaching faculty member with a maximum teaching load of 20 hours per week, and plays a key role in supporting instructors, maintaining program consistency, and advancing program quality.

Program Curriculum Administrator (PCA) 

  • Curriculum Development & Management
  • Develop and maintain curriculum, including:
  • Program and course objectives / learning outcomes
  • Course outlines, lesson plans, and instructional materials
  • Assessments, quizzes, projects, and exams aligned with outcomes
  • Select textbooks and instructional resources
  • Ensure all curriculum aligns with SSC standards, policies, and templates
  • Utilize tools such as LMS platforms (e.g., G2) and exam software (e.g., ExamSoft)
  • Collaborate with curriculum writers for major program revisions when required
  • Submit curriculum and updates to the Education Department for approval and system integration

 Program Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Serve as subject matter expert and resource for instructors and campus staff
  • Lead program faculty meetings (minimum quarterly) to review and update content
  • Ensure standardization of program delivery across campuses
  • Participate in Academic Review Committees (ARC) and prepare program reports
  • Support admissions through program information sessions
  • Industry Alignment & Quality Assurance:
  • Stay current with industry expectations and labour market trends
  • Integrate research and employer feedback into curriculum development
  • Participate in and help coordinate Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings
  • Liaise with external regulatory bodies and professional associations
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements

 Operational Support

  • Assist with admissions documentation review when required
  • Contribute to resource utilization strategies (including publisher tools and digital platforms)
  • Provide occasional teaching coverage (casual/substitute as needed)

 Objectives

  • Deliver current, relevant, and industry-aligned curriculum
  • Ensure program learning outcomes reflect evolving workforce needs
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Support instructors with high-quality, standardized program materials
  • Meet timelines for curriculum development and delivery
  • Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing

Qualifications and Education:

  • Minimum of degree, diploma, or equivalent in the industry/field for which the program is being offered
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in the field of study
  • Education/training in Adult Education (e.g. instruction, curriculum design)
  • HICA designation (Health Information-Certified Associate) to be completed within 1 year of hire date
  • Teaching experience preferred (especially in private or post-secondary education)
  • Training or education in instructional design, teaching, or curriculum development
  • Understanding of adult learning principles

Skills & Competencies

  •  Strong curriculum development and instructional design knowledge
  •  Familiarity with educational technologies and learning management systems
  •  Excellent communication (written and verbal)
  •  Strong organizational and time management skills
  •  Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  •  Effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Program-specific expertise is required depending on the assigned portfolio. Responsibilities may evolve based on organizational needs
