Reporting to the Director of Nursing and Healthcare Operations (DON), the Healthcare Programs Lead, Academics and Student Management is responsible for student matters, and factors related to program content changes and developments.

Responsibilities

Academics and student management

  • Handle education verification requests and attestation letters.
  • Ensure student success by collaborating with team to create learning contracts, accommodations, re-entries, and student success strategies.
  • Assists the team and PN/HCA Coordinators with healthcare student issues when required.
  • Check all healthcare student learning contracts, notices, and probationary documents for relevance, accuracy, and completeness before being issued to the student.
  • Act as the first check point for all PNC’s and Directors for questions related to healthcare rewrites and fails
  • Review all healthcare student remedial plans in consultation with the DON.
  • Review healthcare student Psych Ed assessments in consultation with the DON.
  • Assist the DON and Director of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs with reviewing all healthcare student dismissals prior to them being actioned.
  • Review all healthcare re-entry and next-step plans for dismissed and withdrawn students
  • Compile all Healthcare ARC reports.
  • Assist with minimizing student attrition rates.

External

  • Support healthcare placement coordination, collaboration with Nursing Interschool committee, including affiliation agreements.
  • Assist/support in regulatory body meetings, including but not limited to British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA), Care Aide Registry, Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Board, etc.
  • Serve as a secondary point person for SSC for all healthcare regulators. Serve as a secondary member (when required) on committees run or attended by regulators or advisory boards to represent the interests of SSC.
  • Support the campuses in maintaining all relevant data and reports as required by SSC and BCCNM (and other regulatory bodies), including but not limited to start dates, enrollment numbers, attrition and RExPN. results.
  • Participates and attends Nursing Interschool Committee and other relevant Student Practice Education forums.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date with the BC Health Authorities policies and procedures.

  • Deputize for the DON where required.

Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.

Qualifications and Education

  • Current practicing license as an LPN, NP, or RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  •  A credential in adult education (completed or in progress) or a willingness to undertake if appointed to the role. To be completed within 1 year of hiring date.
  • 3 years of recent, relevant practice experience.
  •  2 years of teaching experience
  • Knowledge of Healthcare professional education and regulation
  • Demonstrated effective Curriculum design experience

Skills
